In the midst of the hustle and bustle of everyday life, it is easy to become overwhelmed. Feelings of exhaustion and defeat can overcome any of us at any time. While in this state of stress/anxiety/burden/etc. there can be times where you feel that you must keep pushing through regardless of being drained and depleted. Many of us have been at this point – feeling irresponsible if we take a moment to sulk or sit in our feelings… feeling like a failure if we don’t continue to move forward without a pause…
…but, let me tell you something.
It’s okay to not be okay!
Seriously. If you need to take a moment to collect your thoughts and gather your energy – then do it!
As we move forward in our wellness journeys, we will begin to realize that part of holistic wellness is also acknowledging when we don’t feel so well (mentally, emotionally, physically, socially, etc.). By making this acknowledgment, compassionately, we are able to then create a plan to help tackle what is affecting us so negatively. It is important to remember that having a day or days where you don’t feel like your normal self is nothing to be ashamed of. If you realize that your few days where you don’t feel like your normal self are snowballing into a longer period of time, then it may be time to seek help through a peer/counselor/mentor/therapist/etc. With increasing awareness of the negative impact of everyday stress on the mind, body, and even soul, there has been a phenomenal growth in the movement of self-acknowledgement, self-compassion, and self-care. You are not alone in having moments where you feel defeated and you do not have to carry that burden by yourself.
If you are feeling that you have no one in your inner circle to talk to then you are more than welcome to contact me below. Together we can brainstorm ideas to move towards better days.
